Gowling Lafleur Henderson
Overview
Gowling Lafleur Henderson (commonly known as Gowlings) traces its roots to the 19th century and operated as one of Canada's leading full-service law firms until its 2016 transatlantic combination with U.K. firm Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co to form Gowling WLG. Prior to the combination it comprised several hundred lawyers and was regularly ranked among the top Canadian firms by revenue and national league tables. The firm offered a broad range of practices -- corporate and M&A, commercial litigation, intellectual property, tax, real estate, energy and infrastructure, and public sector/government work -- and emphasized client service, teamwork, pro bono work and a collegial, innovation-oriented culture. Headquartered in Ottawa, Gowlings maintained offices across Canada (including Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver) and developed distinctive cross-border capabilities and sector strengths, particularly in IP and public procurement.
