LSAT 171 GPA 3.91 2020–21 cycle
Attending Washington University in St. Louis
Combination of T2/T3 softs with relevant work experience in a niche interest. Applied as soon as applications opened for each school and received decisions during first wave except for NYU, Yale, and Stanford.
T2 softs and Ivy undergrad. Didn’t write Why X essays, but wrote other optional essays. Included a non-traditional diversity statement (meaning I didn’t talk about race) and a pretty wild academic addendum. I know for a fact that my essays and interviews were what got me very far in the admissions process- spend a…
Softs: 4 years of (very unique) full time human rights & justice-based work experience, established community organizer, 1st gen lawyer/raised by a single mom, bi woman. Applied ED to Northwestern, but bumped to RD before acceptance.
Wrote Why X for all schools I was admitted to. Heavily lent on my soft factors (URM, legal experience, great LORs from folks who knew me well). Tried to limit how much I check r/lawschooladmissions.
all i know is pain reapplicant with T3.5 softs

Though my “softs” are individually T4, I have an outrageous amount of them; thus, on an overall basis, they may be considered T3. STEM Major. Wrote Diversity Statement for all schools. Wrote a tailored Why X for about 1/3 of applied schools (e.g., Berk, Penn, Duke, etc.) My advice is to focus on overshadowing your…
Wrote Why X for my top choices, optional essays, and did requested, relevant addenda. Splitter but had some decent softs, there is hope for you!
…as much. Also, if you’re a reverse splitter like me, those softs can be the world. I seriously believe I performed the way I did because of them, because my LSAT sure wasn’t doing any favors lol
Applied to every school under the sun because I was hunting that sweet $$$$. Take advantage of fee waivers. No special softs, but strong public service resume, solid recommendations, and creative essay topic. Proud to have two T14 A’s in the cycle from hell.
Softs: Engineer, ~3 years of unique work experience, graduate degree, significant time spent volunteering Personal statement: described the series of events that led me to pursuing law school School specific optional essays I wrote: Stanford: “Would you rather travel to the Moon or travel the Earth?” Harvard: None…
Wrote Why X and Optional Essays whenever they asked for one. Pretty meh softs. Crazy, crazy COVID cycle.
STEM major/business minor. Otherwise, fairly average softs (legal & financial internships, volunteer work, club leadership positions, TA experience, etc). T20 undergrad. Did not apply for aid at NYU, Duke, or Northwestern.
…of graduating class), 1 year medical leave in undergrad Softs: NSF-GRFP and other awards during grad school, published several first-author articles in peer-reviewed journals, 10+ conference presentations (including at the UN), adjunct at colleges/universities, founded and run LGBTQ-related nonprofit, president of…
…my LSAT being lower than their medians. No crazy special softs, just had solid work experience, decent leadership opportunities and niche interests. A cohesive narrative definitely goes a long way. This process can be tough and disheartening. All we can do is try our best n shoot that shot. Good luck🫡
