About & Wisdom

Bbygowtl's wisdom

My LSAT is booty, I know. I wrote addenda for each application that I could explaining my situation. Long story short, I broke my neck and had to undergo surgery in between my October test (151) and my rescheduled February exam. I applied this cycle just to see how it would go, always knowing that I might have to retake and reapply. But, I’m so shocked at how my cycle has gone so far!!

I put a lot of effort and intention into my PS. I wrote every optional statement that I could to demonstrate my writing. I have a master’s degree (3.9 GPA), was a DI NCAA Athlete and Captain, worked full time in grad school while also being a student athlete. I am also currently working in an estate/tax planning firm and have a recommendation from the founding partner of the firm, one LOR is from my head coach in grad school, and the other is from my graduate thesis mentor.

I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF U!

Will try to keep this list up to date as best I can. All times provided are in CST.

UT: applied on 10/2 as a super super reach & resident, II on 11/7, conducted the pre-recorded interview on 11/11. Y’ALL SOMEHOW SOME WAY THEY LET ME IN! Dean Le called me around 3:00pm on 12/20 and the poor man barely had a chance to say congratulations before I started crying. I hope everyone sees my stats and understands that you always have a chance. please don’t let any one else ever tell you otherwise! Scholarship- application opened 1/15/24 and I submitted the general scholarship application and the full-tuition scholarship application that morning.

Unfortunately, Texas denied my reconsideration for scholarship, so I will be paying sticker to attend. But there are much worse situations to be in!! Accepted at my dream school, and I am in-state which helps a ton with tuition costs. I am on cloud nine!! HOOK EM LAWHORNS!
WashU: applied with redacted LSAT. Interview invite on 10/17, conducted the interview on 11/13 (first date available), admitted via phone call around noon on 11/20. Shortly after I was accepted I got an email to schedule a scholarship interview, and I completed the interview on 11/30. The woman in my interview shared that my award would be sent to me in 6-8 weeks. Discussed my interest in their negotiation and mediation programs in both my admission and scholarship interviews. WashU emailed my recommenders and thanked them for recommending me for their program and let them know I had been accepted. I have a tour scheduled to see campus on 1/29, and on 1/22 the admissions officers emailed me to set up a time to talk with a current 2L!! This was such a great opportunity. I also received my scholarship offer ($$$)- on 1/23.

TAMU: - I got the biggest beef in the world w them fr. I applied 9/6, missed every single wave. Went under initial review on 11/7, under final review 11/30, and under final review AGAIN on 12/13. An email I got from them said that if you applied before 12/1, you would get a decision by 2/1.I just need closure at this point lol. Waitlisted on 1/31 around 4:15pm! I also got an email to do an optional interview as a form of LOCI, but I will likely withdraw and choose between WashU and Texas. Withdrew my application on 2/15/24.

KU: Went complete on 9/26 and radio silence for a while until it went ‘In Review’ on 11/28. Got my acceptance via phone call around 11:00am on 12/1. Scholarship - offer came shortly after with my acceptance email, it is non-negotiable.

SMU:- no communication from complete (9/8) until my WL on 1/12. I had a date change on 1/3 and again on 1/10! Withdrew my application once I was WL.

OU: First and by far the fastest acceptance of my cycle. I got an II the day after I applied, 9/26, interviewed on 10/16 to give myself time to prepare. I was admitted via phone call around 3pm on 10/17. My scholarship - package came in the mail a few weeks later. I plan to negotiate this scholarship if I decide to attend OU. I received a handwritten happy holidays letter in the mail on Christmas Eve, which I thought was a really nice touch.

UH:- Complete radio silence after the application complete email. Went UR 11/7 and no movement since. Withdrew on 1/26 after no news, after my UT A it wasn’t a top choice for me anymore so I decided to withdraw and make room for someone that has UH at the top of their list! I also didn’t want them to reject me lol. For some reason after I withdrew I still got a WL email on 2/6? i’m not sure what went on there, but we vibe anyway.

Texas Tech: Applied 9/28 and was complete radio silence until I went UR on 12/4. I got my acceptance email around 9:45am on 12/13! My email said that my welcome package would be sent through snail mail with more information about seat deposits, etc. Email also said that scholarship information would be released on February 1st. Got some more swag in the mail at the end of December! I received my scholarship - offer ($) via email on 1/31!

Louisville: Sent in my application 10/2, was marked complete the following day. I got an email on 10/20 when my application was under review which told me that a decision would be rendered within 3 weeks. I was accepted via email around 5:00pm on 11/10, with my scholarship - award in the email. I got a cute little welcome package in the mail with a journal, pen, welcome note, and a koozie. Withdrew my application on 2/12/24.

UNT Dallas: Sent in my application on 9/20 for their PT program really as a formality for the job I have now. they said they would pay for it if I did the part time program and kept working at the firm. We have since come to an agreement that I want to go to law school full time. The admissions email came an hour after I saw my status checker change on 12/19 the email said that scholarship- information would come no later than 1/31. Will likely withdraw my application here. Withdrew my application on 2/15/24 before any word on scholarship/aid. The admissions office over there has been very unorganized and hard to work with, honestly.
