Law school: Where you spend three years learning to think like a lawyer, then a lifetime trying to think like a human again.

Be kind to yourself. Don’t check application statuses daily or you’ll drive yourself crazy. If you score low on your LSAT, and you can take it again, do it. But if it’s messing with your mental health, it is OKAY to take a break! Don’t drive yourself into the ground over law school admissions. Also, remember to be up front about any character and fitness issues. Be honest. It will come up when you go to take the Bar and if you did not disclose the issues to your law school, this is a HUGE red flag. Everyone makes mistakes!
So why was my LSAT so low? Honestly, I had zero time to study. I worked two jobs while going to grad school full time. I also have test anxiety and literally almost blacked out during my test. I was hoping that law schools would look past the score and at my Undergrad and Grad GPA, as well as my other softs. Some could argue how will I pass the Bar then? My job now is entirely flexible and we already schedule off 3 months I will need to focus on studying only when it comes to that time. I would also like to point out that the LSAT and the Bar are entirely different. I am much better at content based testing- as seen by my two master degrees. The LSAT is an entirely different animal.
Other Stats:
I manage a law firm and have a legal partnership waiting for me
I am the Treasurer of a Non-Profit
I was a foster child until the age of 18 in AZ, and signed a voluntary and did Independent Living until I was 21.
I have two master degrees: MA in Sociology (4.0 GPA) and a MS in Forensic Psychology (3.97 GPA)
I taught Statistics through both Master programs, while working full time at the law firm
I am a distance runner and race several times a year. I have completed two Ragnar Trail Races and did my first half marathon in Dec 2022. I have ran too many 5k and 10ks to count.
I have been working since I was 15 years old- I am in my mid 30s now.
I have a sordid past, and luckily do not have a criminal record, but do have issues regarding past jobs and a community college that I attended when I was younger. The only thing positive thing that I had during my childhood was school. I was always good at school, and even when I was passed from group home to group home every few months, I kept my grades up. I ended up graduating high school a year early, in the top 10 of my class, with an addiction, and massive untreated trauma.
Legal Interest: I have a background in Mental Health. I worked in private mental health until switching to law. My master’s paper from my Sociology degree examined the vast racial disproportionality within the US prison system and how today’s population mirrors that of the Jim Crow era. During my Forensic Psychology Master’s, I focused on violent crimes, sex crimes, psychopathy, and how the mental health system and criminal justice system have completely failed the American people. My main interest is in Serial Killers. I am interested in working in the field of Mental Competency and Criminal Law. Defense only. I also have an intense interest in Post Partum Psychosis and how these heartbreaking cases can intersect with the criminal justice system. I find the complete lack of knowledge regarding serious mental illness within the criminal justice system to be, well frankly, criminal.
Another quick note: I only applied to Hybrid Programs. I am not in the position to NOT work and attend law school. I need flexibility, I need to be able to work-full time-and take care of my family. My husband is also a grad student (STEM Science Degree) and my son is autistic and homeschooled. My husband does not work due to this, and we have a very fine balancing act we need to maintain.
