IWILLSUPERSPLIT's wisdom
Don’t get into a car accident before thanksgiving that pushes your apps out into January and February.
Do don’t getting into a car accident TWO DAYS BEFORE THANKSGIVING that pushes your apps out into January and February.
Things I genuinely believe helped me:
My professional recommendation is very very good- My academic recommendation is not very good, but contains specific examples of how I would ace tests even in classes where my grades weren’t the best
- My school has no average reported LSAC GPA, thank god, but if it was it would be a 2.5. At a certain point I am a single standard deviation below average and I have that in my addendum.
- I have nothing yet from BC, but my personal relationship with mid or high level admissions people at TAMU and Baylor have been GODSENDS. Mike at Baylor has literally fought to get me over the highest level of initial scholarship possible. He’s a G and I love him so much <3
- Seriously, if you have schools that you are not a lock for but really want, just create the relationship. Ask real questions. Show interest in the school. Talk to current students. Just learn as much as possible!! Yes, there’s a good chance you fail, but it’s also your best chance for success. I am, as far as I know, the lowest admitted GPA to Baylor Law in the history of the law school. Wildin.
- I sent my second LOR to SMU after the fact.
Things I genuinely believe hurt me:
Late applications. Baylor was my earliest in late December. Many of these apps are going in into January or February.- Low GPA, for obvious reasons
- The WashU ED process. They cut scholarships like crazy and it’s been tough.
Random Notes:
I am not an URM. I am other in that I am West Asian and ethnically Jewish.
