IrritableBobCat's wisdom
Other than the LSAT, nothing I did throughout undergrad/post-grad was solely for my law school application. To me, law school is an opportunity to learn how to solve problems that I am already working on in a way that would otherwise be inaccessible (and in a way that aligns with my strengths). My resume and essays were all very cohesive.
I asked for letters of recommendation in person, from professors who had taught me multiple times and advised me. I sent them copies of my resume, personal statement, YLS guidance for LORs, and a BRIEF list of key work from their courses (e.g., the title of my final paper).
Not URM, but I come from a very unconventional background that has informed my worldview. I conveyed this in my supplemental essays.
I only applied to my top choices based on advice from a family friend (who happens to be a T-3 alum). She said that based on my goals, it made sense to either attend a top school (and I prefer the East Coast) or find another career route. This is not the best advice for everyone, but it was for me.
