Let’s see how this goes

Update 12/15/24: Well that went fast. Good luck to next year’s wandering souls. This is your sign to spend less time on LSD.

Update 1/24/25: I’ve been in at BC for over a month by now. I’m of course super grateful to be committed to a wonderful school in an amazing city, but part of me can’t stop wondering “what if?”

If I were to do it all over again I’d spend significantly less time on this website and Reddit. I think both were great resources for an applicant unfamiliar to the process, but after a while they became my bible. Law school admissions is an extremely stats driven game, which Reddit and LSD showed me. But by buying into the idea that stat’s are 90% of the battle, I think I may have sold myself a little short in this cycle.

I read it 100x in my pre-application month’s, but I don’t think I took it to heart, so I’ll say it again in hopes you’ll be more receptive: Stats aren’t everything, and the “odds” you see on this website aren’t your chances of being admitted. I wouldn’t apply ED anywhere unless I had family paying my full COA.

I think the sole benefit of my ED application is a slightly larger scholarship than I would have otherwise received from BC. That being said, Boston is my top choice of long-term cities, and my ultimate goal is BigLaw which is surely achievable, but not guaranteed from BC. If I had believed more in other aspects of my application, besides my stats, I think there’s a shot I get into UCLA or Vanderbilt.

Vandy is definitely the driver of my “what ifs.” A great school where BigLaw, my primary motivation for law school, is relatively guaranteed, where I’m at the 75th percentile for LSAT, and I feel I wrote a darn good essay.

At the end of the day, I am truly thankful for the position I find myself in. I’ll be attending a great law school in my first choice city, with a huge scholarship, and a real shot to work my way into my desired career path. But I wish I let things play out without an ED application to BC. Good luck my friends.
