Wisdom for future generations

Oct 2024 (1L year edit): Absolutely no regrets about my choice!

Helpful advice for students with significant others/spouses!
Why I’m choosing SCU over a full ride at McGeorge:

Normally I would suggest going where the money is, especially if the schools you are considering are virtually identical academically. However, my situation is different than most - my husband’s job prospects were much better in the Silicon Valley area rather than Sacramento, so I decided to go to the school with less scholarship $$ simply because with the better job prospects we’ll be able to make up the difference on our own with minimal debt.

Many students are not married and don’t have another’s income to consider in their decision, so the money doesn’t matter as much in my decision. Do what is best for your situation - for most that would include as little debt as possible or the most scholarship $$ possible, but your priorities may be different if you situation is different. I was not willing for my husband and I to live 3 hours apart during law school while he worked in SV and I lived in Sac.
