Don’t make the same mistakes I did.

1.) Apply early as possible. (September/October)
2.) Take the LSAT more than once (I assumed a 163 would get me the scholarship and schools I preferred)
–> Study for at least three months (Not two weeks like I did)
3.) Use LSAT prep courses. You will get the money back via scholarship. (One of my biggest regrets)
4.) Reach out to professors at the law school you hope to attend.
–> I had many insightful conversations and networked within my intended field.
5.) Do well in school every semester. Schools don’t seem to care about trends in your GPA, at least positive ones.
–> Choose a major that will allow you to have a 3.8-4.0. I did engineering (3.3) and Economics (4.0). I regret ever doing engineering, solely because schools don’t care about majors.
6.) Look at schools’ percentiles. I didn’t get into a single school where I wasn’t above their LSAT 75th.
—> It’s 50% LSAT score, 40% GPA, 10% Softs/Essays. (This holds for most applicants, this doesn’t include URMs/Military/Etc.)
