Not an under-represented minority in terms of race (I’m white) but I’m disabled and lived in poverty until I was 18. I wrote my optional essay about growing up disabled (and going undiagnosed for a longer-than-usual time period) led to my involvement in disability rights orgs & how it has shaped my worldview and values. Not sure if schools will count me as URM or non-traditional because of this, but we’ll see. Just thought people might want to know this in case my stats ever get viewed. Good luck all!
