Wisdom
Do not look at Reddit until you turn in your apps, they’ll make you go insane. Watch Dean Z’s videos, listen to podcast by adcom members or admissions deans when working on the app but mostly just try and create a concise story. Apply early but don’t worry about it too much, Sept to Dec is fine and if you need to apply later to get a better LSAT score, do it. LSAT score is easy to improve, just do a lot of practice problems and practice reading faster. I used 7sage, it worked well for me but I didn’t try anything else. Diag 161, PT’d from 169-178. Only apply to safety schools that give you a fee waiver, most of them will. Do some research before doing a Kira, the questions they ask are probably online already. I liked taking a gap year but that’s personal preference, but do try to get a way to see the world of lawyering whether that’s a job, internship, or personal connections.
I did two optional essays for UMich, one for Cornell, and the short essay for GULC. Did Kira for UT, did not do it for UMinn or TAMU. Zoom interviewed with WUSTL, Alumni Interview with GULC. I scheduled short zoom calls with admissions personnel at UChicago, WashU, and UMich, I would highly recommend doing so for schools that offer it. I tried to schedule one with Cornell but was not able to get in touch with their admissions office.
Received aid offers from UMinn, WashU, UT. Renegotiated aid with UT using the other two offers, received 10,000 more per year.
