OlDirtyBtard's wisdom
About me:
Small state school, humanities program. Did some interesting academic stuff and paid for it with my GPA. LoRs from two academic advisors who saw me perform my best.
Had major difficulties out of college with stable housing and major family issues that exploded right before/during COVID. It was rough, but it gave me some perspective and a laser-focused reason to practice law.
Dream schools: Cornell, Michigan, Duke, Vandy. Otherwise, wherever I get in for cheapest; debt is no joke.
Reach: Penn.
Safeties: Don’t spend six figures and three years on a safety.
LSAT: First, I got a desk and a bed to sleep in.
Then, I crunched 7sage + Powerscore RC/LR bibles from 5 months with a 1 month break. I found what question types eluded me and reinforced my understanding of the foundations with the Powerscore books; I found their approach more foundational and theoretical (and therefore comprehensive) than 7sage which seems more vibes-based. Powerscore forums also were indispensable for question explanations. I made time for friends, hobbies, and exercise, which I think helped; I did not let the test consume me. Ran 2 miles and lifted the night before to get a good rest. Ate potatoes and eggs for breakfast to stay full. Smoked a 176 on my first try.
Application: Work in progress. Did one LSAC fair and it seemed useless. Started essays late (September) which was a mistake.
So far: PS, Why Cornell, Why Mich, GULC top 10.
To-do:
Duke (short answer, why Duke); - Mich (supplemental 3 or 9),
- UVa (Why UVa),
- GULC (why GULC),
- CLS (why Columbia)
- Vandy (why Vandy, DS)
