I was impatient to start school this year so I did not prioritize improving my LSAT score.

Looking back, I should have taken more time to improve my score and applied in a future cycle. If you can afford the time (and possibly tutor money) do not plan to apply until after you get your target score.

Consider applying for waived LSAT fees. If you can avoid paying for each test, go for it.

Work and save up money as you do this. Then, when you feel you are close to getting that score, you can begin working on your other materials (essays, LORs, resume).

Apply in the Fall! If you do not get your target score until the Spring, wait to apply until the following Fall. You will have a better chance of being accepted with generous scholarships.

Also! Research into how to get fee waivers from the schools and LSAC for your apps. It is not cheap applying to multiple schools.
