PineapplePigeon's wisdom
Overall Wisdom/Feelings About My Cycle:
My first LSAT score and fall 2022 GPA were 163/3.78. With those numbers, I basically wrote UCLA off and I hoped and prayed for UCD and UCI. The 177 opened doors for me that would’ve otherwise been closed. Instead of freaking out about UCI/UCD admissions I got full tuition at UCD and 75% at UCI. Instead of counting UCLA out completely, I not only got in, but I also got a 1/3 tuition scholarship. Look at your cycle with gratefulness and appreciation and you’ll end up where you belong <3 The only thing that could’ve made this cycle better was getting distinguished scholars at UCLA :D
Details for each app (in order of submission):
ASU - subpar resume and subpar PS (both rewritten for the rest of my apps)
UCLA - applied to distinguished scholars program, wrote programmatic contribution essay, grades addendum, DS. Had a professor “put in good word” to admissions and spoke with one of the Deans of admission at my undergrad’s grad school fair the week before I submitted
Duke - DS, LSAT addendum, no why duke
HLS - DS
NYU - DS, LSAT addendum, sent LOCI in April
Vandy - DS, LSAT addendum
Penn - just DS
USC - DS, sent Why USC in early March, ended up sending another LOCI at the very beginning of June stating that I am extremely interested and deposited at UCLA across town. I told them that if they give me X amount of scholarship money, I WILL attend. I received II next day and had the interview the day after. Went very well, was admitted 3 days later, but the scholarship offer wasn’t enough for me to jump ship. Oh well! It was a great try and im happy i did that :) Go trojans lol
UT - no extra materials
WashU - DS, sent LOCI in February
Cornell - Lots of answers for “what prompted you to apply” and “recruiting events attended” because I organized/co-hosted Cornell Law admissions events with my prelaw club. DS, LSAT addendum, and very heartfelt Why Cornell.
Berk - 2 page generic PS (no why x), LSAT addendum
GULC - DS, LSAT addendum, pretty silly top ten list (regret it looking back), really good group interview or so I thought… sent LOCI immediately after getting WL. Filled out feeler form (had the special feeler form that said they’re interested) and said I am super interested but a visit would determine my final emotional decision. Told them scholarship didn’t matter. Got feeler call a few days before my A :))) Ultimately decided to stay in california tho
Stanford - DS, LSAT Addendum, three songs essay
CLS - pretty stupid and silly fun fact section (regret it looking back), DS, sent LOCI in April
UVA - experiences and interests, LSAT addendum
UC Davis - no extra materials
UC Irvine - Why UCI, inclusive excellence essay
