PoliticSnappyIbex's wisdom

Despite growing up in an abusive household, I excelled academically in high school and went on to attend college, where my freshman year was upended by a severe illness that resulted in a two-month hospitalization, a traumatic medical experience, and a diagnosis of chronic severe ulcerative colitis. I had to completely overhaul my lifestyle, adapt to significant physical limitations, including muscle atrophy that left me unable to climb stairs or lift everyday objects, and navigate the lasting effects of PTSD and mental health challenges. After transferring to a university in my home state, I struggled but gradually rebuilt my health, participating in competitive sailing, studying abroad in Jordan to develop proficiency in Arabic, earning a decent GPA, and graduating a semester early thanks in part to AP credits. I then moved to San Diego, where I spent five and a half years building a career in immigration law, advancing to the role of senior paralegal and consultant in work I found deeply meaningful. More recently, I relocated to Washington, D.C. to continue my legal career as a litigation paralegal in the public interest sector.
