No matter when you graduated, contact your undergrad school’s career development office and pre-law advisors. I graduated [redacted] years ago, and it was invaluable to have an objective assessment of my application package. They can help you edit your resume to be legible to adcomms and hone your personal statement.

Regarding personal statements: the narrative is even more important for us than it is for KJDs. Every admissions rep I spoke with said that nailing our “why law” is critical. But, if you’ve been in the workforce for a while, congratulations, you have access to experts who can read your statements and give you notes. Most of my friends are writers or literature profs, and they helped me polish every piece of writing I submitted. I had about 5 readers for my personal statement/statement of perspective/optional essays. Do not fear the editing process: it’s the best way to make your writing better.
