LSAT
Definitely approached the LSAT without a great plan. Do not waste your opportunities. I was planning to apply in 2023, took the LSAT without doing real prep twice. Did not master the logic games. With the change to format, I decided to wait and take the new format. I really needed my LSAT to be higher (and I was PT’ing higher) given my GPA, but ran out of opportunities.

GPA
First-gen entering an intense academic environment at Ivy League school, in a notoriously difficult freshman humanities program which really destroyed my GPA. My transcript reflects growth, though, with all As my senior year and in law courses and grad-level courses. Completed research thesis.

Extracurriculars
Student government VP, state political group president, RA, local campaign manager, study abroad, high level judicial summer job, public service award.

WE
Worked as lead paralegal on major case at DOJ. Moved to big law firm in same field with a few additional high profile trials and lot of pro bono work.

Essays
Personal Statement - focused on story from childhood about parent’s job loss and how this connected to the field of law I’ve worked in/want to continue in. Made a clear point as to the why this field is important, why it mattered to me, how it connected to my first gen identity.
Perspectives/Diversity - focused on homophobic incident that severely affected me and how I grew and overcame that challenge

GW - First decision, 1/9 A, quick turnaround, applied 12/10, 2/26 scholarship $$ offer. Withdrew 4/14.
BU- 1/16 WL. Super quick to waitlist (about 16 days?). Didn’t put much into specifics on why BU. Withdrew from WL.
