Unless you have superior softs, a 174+ with a 4.0, it’s going to be a hard run. Start very very early. If you’re in the midst of studying like crazy and the LSAT you get will not get you into the tier you want or believe you can achieve then discard the score. I increased my LSAT from 158 to 166 to 171. I chose to discard my first LSAT and my 2nd, a 166, I regret that I had kept. My wisdom would be that if you’ve only just begun to study and improve on the LSAT to not keep your scores, as all will be reported. I believe the 166 created concern and the wide gap between 166 and 171 made it uncertain if 166 is my norm or 171 - or somewhere in the middle. I would also suggest you develop a VERY good relationship with one of your recommendation letters that can then reflect this relationship in their letter. Make sure your recommendation letter comes from a professor who taught a rigorous class involving heavy reading and writing.
