I am going to law school no matter what

UPDATE Mar. 2026: Seat is secured 🎂
I found my calling heading into my third year of college, though I’m a “KJD” on paper, I’ve already found my life’s work. I’m a first-gen lawyer that doesn’t know what I’m doing. I credit a lot of my knowledge to the HLS/YLS podcasts and being able to apply the advice to my situation.
—
My LSAT was at the lowest end of my practice scores, with my highest at a 161 (gasp). I completely ignored Reddit’s advice. I didn’t take it again and decided to apply early instead of stressing out over taking it again while in school. I took it one time prior cold and kept it on my record—yeah, I don’t care, clearly they don’t either!
My goal is to get into law school, not get the highest LSAT score.
—
I wrote nearly all the optional essays where applicable at every school, and I submitted an LSAT addendum to schools even where I am above median to explain my systematic circumstances behind my “meh” test score, plus my score jump, despite my stellar GPA.
—
I credit my outcomes to my overall application package including my letters, and effectively being able to communicate my “why.”
Once the acceptances roll in, the stress disappears, and you realize all of your work paid off.
I wish the absolute best to everyone and I sincerely hope that everyone can find the school that’s the best fit for them. And remember, NO DEBT!
If you got to this point, thank you for reading: I wish you well, and you’ll be fabulous.

Update April 2026: I felt like adding a comment…
My response to those who say “Go work a couple years first…” “Get work experience…” “Save some money…”
F••• them. If you’re dead set on being a lawyer, chase after it god d••• it. That’s what I did. You won’t save jack s••• for law school—or maybe you will.
Everybody’s situation is different. Prioritize your values.
