- Do everything early. Start studying early, take your LSAT at an earlier administration than you need to, start writing early, submit your applications early.
- Don’t feel like you have to do law-related work to seem qualified. My work was only tangentially law-related, but was pretty unique and related clearly to a specific area of law. Based on discussions with adcoms from several schools who have referred to me based on the work-related story I told in my PS, my non-law unique work experience was critical to my admission.
- If your undergrad has a pre-law advisor, reach out and talk through the process with them as soon as you commit to applying. Mine had school suggestions that I wouldn’t have considered otherwise but ended up being some of my top choices.
- Ask lawyers about their paths. I didn’t really see myself as a lawyer until I started spending a lot of time around lawyers (through circumstances unrelated to my application process) and realized that it would be a good fit as a career.
