At BU, I got the WL in March, toured, and sent 4 LOCIs total (day of decision, mid april, end of may, early June, end of July). The middle three were all in response to solicitations from the school. In my last LOCI, I threw a hail mary and went nontraditional. I wrote a mini essay answering the “why law?” question earnestly and explained my pivot to law a bit more. Not sure if this is what ultimately helped, but given that my stats were above median I figured there must have been something in my letters or personal statement that was giving them pause, so I tried to overcome that with that last LOCI. They called me in mid august to ask if I was still interested and if I’d gotten a scholarship anywhere else, and then extended the offer (with $) verbally on that call!
