“It’s getting hard to be someone, but it all works out”
My admissions journey was an incredibly frustrating experience and it made me question whether or not law school was the right decision for me. As one can see below, I applied to twelve law schools in November 2023 and three in January 2024.
When I received my acceptance letter from Albany Law in January, I expected the others to start rolling in soon after––I was completely wrong. Waitlist letter after waitlist letter arrived in my inbox and I became extremely disheartened. Not even my undergraduate school, Duquesne University, wanted me!
After months of hoping someone would recognize my efforts in undergrad with a 3.99 GPA. I came to terms with the idea of never attending law school––a dream I have had for quite some time.
Just when I thought all hope was lost, on April 29 I received an acceptance letter from Pitt Law. My advice is to never lose hope** **and trust in God’s plan. Even if the future seems unclear, know there is a divine creator whose Will shall be done.
P.S. To those with a low LSAT score and high GPA, I feel for you. Keep your head up high and believe a school will see your value.
P.P.S. I changed my “first choice school” to Pitt for the look of it––it was originally George Mason. I wanted to go to Duquesne, Catholic, or George Mason in the worst way. Now looking back, I would not want it any other way.
“I would like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we’ve passed the audition.”
