TroutLawyer's wisdom
This profile is here to allow other black male super splitters to be aware of the possibilities given your stats. Just know that people will always diminish your accomplishments but you are still amazing!
Shoutout Nsqui for the full recap format and cryptanon for putting this whole site together <3.
June 2021 LSAT Flex 169 (was PT’ing at a 175-179 so this was a huge gut punch)
August 2021 LSAT 4-section 176 (7sage will be your friend here)
2 years full-time work experience in government communications and diplomacy. B.A. in Journalism (Graduated in 3 years). If you still can please focus on your grades.
Unexciting University Softs (president of fraternity, student-athlete in non-revenue sport, mild research opportunities, study-abroad, worked part-time all through undergrad)
PS focused on an incident from my childhood -> experience I had somewhat related in uni -> neatly tied together why law. DS focused on identity as a black male in society, especially being the only minority voice in my classes and workplaces and how I have contributed to helping people understand DEI issues.
Essays+Additional Info Below
Yale - Wrote 250 on legislation that I have ghostwritten/helped pass. (Please do not submit to Yale on the deadline and try to write your Y250 at 11:44 PM the day its due).
Stanford - Wrote the optional 250 about 3 books that I love and cherish.
Harvard - Nothing extra.
Columbia - Nothing extra. Put on Hold 2/16.
UChicago - Nothing extra.
NYU - Applied to RTK + Furman Public Policy Scholars (sent this app in pretty late to make sure the scholarship essays were as good as possible). Put on Hold 1/21.
UPenn - Wrote Core Values, not strong but not mediocre? Not Invited to Interview for Dean’s Scholly or any Named Schollies.
UVA - Nothing (Wish I would’ve wrote a why UVA but I guess it didn’t matter). Got accepted at my interview.
Berkeley - Extended my PS to more than 3 pages as requested. Wrote a strong Why X imo. but maybe not LMAO.
Duke - Wrote (admittedly poor) Why Duke that I wish I could’ve rewrote. UR3 1/29
UMich - Wrote extremely strong Why Michigan that Dean Z mentioned in my acceptance letter. Got interview invitation for the Darrow on 12/8! Got accepted into Darrow on 1/22!
UCLA - Programmatic Contribution focused on Critical Race Studies, also wrote an Epstein Program application. Admitted into Epstein Program 2/11!
GTown - Unpopular opinion about current geopolitical situation I’d had experience with diplomatically. Group interview.
USC - Public Interest Scholars Essay.
Minnesota - Nothing extra. Put on Hold 12/27.
ASU - No Why ASU, did virtual visit.
IU - My alma mater (GO HOOSIERS) didn’t write a why X tho.
