Look at the NALP and ABA Employment reports and base your decisions on where to apply and attend on those. Assume you will be an average student and make sure you’re ok with the average outcomes for the schools you consider.

EVERY part of your application matters. Stats can keep you out of schools, but they’re not enough to get you in. Use your other materials to set yourself apart.
Don’t undervalue your unique experiences or assume you need to follow a formula. In retrospect, I wish I had leaned more heavily into my work experience. I didn’t think it was prestigious enough to matter, but that was a wrongheaded way to think of it. In addition to demonstrating employability and progression, it was interesting, varied, and gave me lots of valuable experiences to draw from. I realized its value too late; don’t let that be you.

Go to as many admitted students days as you can. They give you a much better feel for a school than a tour.

Be humble and realistic. Don’t sell yourself short, but don’t assume you’ll be exceptional either.

If you’re applying to law school you probably have a skeptical streak and an analytical mind; use them during this process.
