CYCLE RECAP:
As a first gen lawyer I had no idea how all of this worked. Still not an expert even though I’ve been through it, but I have definitely learned a lot. I took the June 2023 LSAT with like 1 practice test under my belt. I got a 154. Decided I would study and take the October LSAT. I should have studied a lot more, but I got a 160 and was very happy with that considering my lack of preparation. I tried to submit all my apps on 11/1 which was my score release day. Did not really want to apply to WashU and Drake, but my parents really wanted me to at least throw my hat in the ring there. When I applied my uGPA was a 3.32. On 12/21 my uGPA updated to a 3.43 with my fall grades.
WashU: Had absolutely no interest in going here. Withdrew my application before they even rendered a decision. My parents wanted me to apply, but I would have for sure been rejected.
ASU: Got a CAS fee waiver and decided to apply because it was free. I didn’t do the Why ASU essay as I’m not that interested in going here. Finally got rejected after a much longer period than so was expecting.
KU: After my submission I received a standard email that said they would not even start reviewing apps until 11/1 and it would be 6-8 weeks. On 12/20 my status checker said I was waitlisted. I didn’t receive the official email until about 8 hours later.
Oklahoma: Literally love how quickly they moved. My interview wasn’t until 11/13 because of my availability. Otherwise I think my A would have come even faster. My interview was great and made me really want to go there. The only thing that was not great was that they sent scholarship info through the snail mail, but far and away the best acceptance package.
Mizzou: Radio silence from them until I got a phone call on 11/28 from the Dean of Admissions. Also used the snail mail for scholarship info. Will not reconsider scholarships which is annoying. Decided to attend as I believe it will set me up to get a job in my desired location.
Drake: I had a little interest in going here. However, their offer was not competitive at all and frankly very disappointing. I didn’t even want to negotiate.
Nebraska: Got a “golden ticket” through a marketing email. They gave me an application fee waiver and CAS fee waiver. Decided to shoot my shot and ended up with a full scholarship!
UMKC: My interview was very chill. Just randomly checked my email and saw that I got in which was funny. The scholarship offer was pretty poor and made me worry that they are not invested in their law school. They do not negotiate scholarships.
