The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom.

WorkableSilentForest's wisdom for future generations
  • Take undergrad seriously, even if you aren’t sure you want to do grad school, prepare like you would to get a good GPA.
  • Take time off after undergrad to gain work experience. It will help you both as an individual and for law school applications.
  • Take the LSAT seriously, and study for it. Don’t just wing it. Find books and programs that work for you. don’t feel like you have to spend a fortune, just study hard. Give it the proper time.
  • There’s always going to be someone better than you, don’t get discouraged by this.
  • temper your expectations and understand what you really want out of law school and what you want to do.
  • rankings aren’t a be all end all, but can be important. It might be better to go to a lower ranked school in the state and region you want to practice in than a higher ranked else where.
  • try to get law school for cheap.
  • I made my profile here to be a resource to current and future law applicants who need data points. Especially to schools outside the T20. This is also why it is public. You’re using this data, you too should provide something in return.
  • Like it or not, Stats matter. Even if they’re only a part of your application, they are a large part.
