legallydirtyblonde's wisdom

So grateful for my acceptance! This was such a tough and humbling cycle so to receive an offer from such a great law school with a huge scholarship feels like a dream come true.

My advice to future applicants is as follows:

  1. Do not underestimate the importance of the LSAT. I was scoring in the low 170s on PTs but scored a 162 on the actual LSAT and that was the last one with the logic games section which was what I excelled at. I left for grad school right after taking the LSAT but if I could have I would have studied the new test format and tried to get above a 170. Give yourself plenty of time to study and maybe a cushion of time in case you need to retake.

  2. Apply EARLY! My graduate degree was from abroad so I had all kinds of issues getting a degree equivalency through LSAC once I had my final transcript in hand. This situation caused me to be a February applicant for several schools which is not a good look. If you have a foreign degree, get your CAS report done well ahead of time in case of any processing delays.

  3. Negotiate your scholarship! I did and as you can see I had no other offers to use as leverage. Nevertheless, they bumped my scholarship from $75,000 to $90,000. Do not underestimate your value and always ask for more. Law school is a huge financial commitment so every cent counts.
