Applied late December last cycle, rushed applications - no why X’s or additional essays. Wrote a scholarship essay for NYU but that was it. Rejected at Harvard & waitlisted at Columbia/NYU/Fordham.

Stats are the same, but this cycle I’ve written either a Why X or an optional essay for every school except UCLA, ASU, Cardozo & Brooklyn. Also added two short addenda to explain very minor things that may not immediately be clear to an adcomm. Hoping for better results this time!

Update: looking back, I’m thrilled with the way my cycle has ended. As a note though - I still don’t think I did a good enough job crafting a cohesive, Why Law narrative, especially given my eclectic work history. If you are a non-traditional applicant, BE SURE to explain explicitly why you are applying to law school and what you hope to achieve!
