If you’re like me and don’t have numbers that pop off the page, please do everything you can to make the rest of your application as perfect as can be. I was lucky to have a few mentors in the legal field review my writing samples repeatedly, and I was equally fortunate to work for a global firm doing legal-adjacent work for multiple years. This culminated in a strong personal statement, resume, and letters of recommendation.

While my results were slightly below my expectations, I think me making a cogent and purposeful argument for why I wanted to attend an NYC-based program helped tremendously during the scholarship consideration process. Additionally, I recommend leveraging any existing scholarships to receive a better offer from other schools you were admitted to.

Lastly (and most importantly), do not let this process define you. Rejection stings, but all it takes is one school taking a chance on you. Know that you are capable of making a great lawyer regardless of where you attend school.
