It’s important to gain as much knowledge as you can from mentors, peers, admissions, etc. so you can make well-informed decisions during this process.

But at the end of the day, you know yourself best. My authenticity as an applicant was muddled by too much noise from well-meaning mentors and guides. If I had been more authentic, I know that some WLs could’ve been A’s, and some R’s could’ve been WLs. But!! I ended up where I wanted to be anyway :) Probably because my genuine desire to attend my top choice showed easily in my Why X essay.

Advice? When someone tries to project their own version of a successful applicant, law student, and lawyer, don’t listen to them.

Trust yourself: only you know what feels most authentic to your goals as a future lawyer.
