waitlistman67's wisdom
I tried to fill my profile as much as possible to be transparent for those of you after me. Admissions is very stressful so here’s a few pointers for those with similar stats/softs/details to me:
C and F (probably the biggest fear I had): Own up to it and use it to your advantage. Being willing to be transparent about something like this takes courage and also allows you to show how you matured/explain other factors to your application. Mine specifically was a “wrong place, wrong time” thing and not being civic minded to intervene when things went on around me (at the harm of others). This allowed me to talk about how I learned that protecting others and the law is not just “you focusing on you” but realizing your duties as a citizen and the value of protecting the peace (especially as a lawyer) - not just the freshman attitude “I dont wanna be a snitch”.
LSAT: A huge limiting factor to my application. Study hard with purpose. It teaches you the interworkings of how to think for law school. Don’t see it as a chore, but also do not let it eat you and take away your entire life. Once it starts hurting your core values (ex: you value health and it diminishes your health), consider stopping. Otherwise keep pushing! It can be a deal-killer for your app or a deal maker. My biggest regret is truly not starting earlier when I had the time/energy/capability.
GPA: Schools want to see how you operate in an education environment. Try to be as consistent as you can
Softs: Do what excites you. Don’t choose to do things you won’t be able to truly define with.
The rest: head up chin up and be confident
Yall got this
Good luck!
