Application Advice: Visit schools! Attending virtual info sessions is great, but I think visiting schools made a huge difference in a some of my outcomes (especially UVA and Duke) and allowed me to figure out where would be the best fit- Write all of the “Why XYZ” essays. LSAT 172 GPA 3.41 2023–24 cycle

Attending University of Virginia

Phooey, I say, on all white-shoe college boys who edit their campus literary magazines. Give me an honest con man any day. Self-knowledge is key. Finding yourself along the way is a pain, but writing the personal statements can help. Dry out/get clean /before/ you apply, not during. Comparison is the thief of joy.…

Still waiting on Howard University to get back to me…. I am in my last semester of law school. Also, if you are interested in Public Interest (NGOs, Government, etc.) please check out the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)! It makes large amounts of debt doable. Talk to the school’s financial aid office!

Apply early in the cycle. Essays do matter (as evidenced by my results compared to my LSAT). Take care in every aspect of the application and ensure that your package tells a complete, compelling story. Do the optional essays. Be personable in interviews and always convince them that you want to go to their school.

UnwrittenLikeableOcelot left no wisdom for posterity… (◕︵◕) I’m going through this process now. All I can say before I get a complete set of results is be nice to folks throughout the process of applying! We are all stressed about it, but at the end of the day, I think we all want the best for each other.

Things will work out the way they need to. Try your best, be authentic, and don’t spend too much time doomscrolling here when you have your life to live in the meantime.

LSAT 172 GPA 3.83 2022–23 cycle

I applied so broadly because I wanted to try and negotiate scholarships. Unfortunately the only scholarship I was able to negotiate at all was at GULC. Looking back, I would have just blanketed the T20 + ND and ignored the rest, but I am nonetheless thankful for a successful cycle. GO BLUE!

My wisdom is this: I have no wisdom. I am a Mexican-American URM with a unique soft. I’m writing this before I receive any decision, but a horrible cycle would probably be due to me applying at 19 years old. If I had a normal/good cycle, then I guess age doesn’t matter!
