Admitted to Northwestern UniversityPS about my interest in human rights law, DS about my racial identity. Wrote why X or optional statements for all non T6 schools. 1 year out of college serving in Americorps, attended a non-prestigious undergrad.
I studied using exclusively LSAT Demon and JurisPrep (one more for the software, the other for an LSAT class). These and getting as much feedback as possible on how you present yourself to schools is what matters!
everybody said i couldn’t do it with a 162!!! believe in yourself and that you are more than ur numbers. go wildcats :p
Negotiate your scholarships!!!! The worst they can say is no. With the exception of Northwestern (because they said they weren’t going to negotiate with anyone this year), I got more money everywhere I asked.
LSAT 171 GPA 3.91 2020–21 cycle
Attending Washington University in St. Louis
Combination of T2/T3 softs with relevant work experience in a niche interest. Applied as soon as applications opened for each school and received decisions during first wave except for NYU, Yale, and Stanford.
Brutal cycle. Did not perform even close to how I expected based off of previous years’ data (admissions & scholarship offers). LSAT medians are certainly rising. Oh, well; hopefully you all have better luck.
Wrote Why Michigan, Duke, WashU, Cornell, GULC. Wrote Penn Core Values, GULC Unpopular Opinion, Stanford Library Books. Updated personal statement for Columbia. work on your materials early and apply early!
However tempting it seems, DO NOT ED. It isn’t worth it. If you can get into a school by ED you can probably get into a slightly lower ranked school (without a huge change in outcomes) with some money.
No additional essays except: UVA Activities and Interests - did it essay style Why UVA Why Berkeley Cornell - just the short Why X required in application Georgetown Top 10 Why Michigan Stanford 3 Songs
Apply to Duke early (before mid-November). Do every optional essay. Be friendly and personable whenever you interact with admissions staff. Always send a thank you email after every interview.
HYSP Undergrad in STEM Wrote a GPA addendum explaining rocky freshman year but upward trajectory; other extra essays - Why Berkeley, Why Michigan, advice to younger self for GULC HTE from NYU on 1/28
apply earlier for peace of mind
No wisdom to share with you just yet. Hang tight!
UR3 U.Chi - 2/15/2021 “Hold” NYU - 2/26/2021 GULC blank status checker - 3/12/2021 Interview Completed dates: NU -12/6/2020, WUSTL - 2/9/2021, UVA - 2/12/2021, GULC - 3/1/2021, Cornell - 3/3/2021
Wrote Why X for all schools I was admitted to. Heavily lent on my soft factors (URM, legal experience, great LORs from folks who knew me well). Tried to limit how much I check r/lawschooladmissions.
KJD but graduated from undergrad with BA & MA in 4 years. Withdrew from Stanford, Columbia, Penn, and Duke before receiving official scholarship offers. Did not negotiate for more aid from schools.
Go outside. Stretch. Breathe. Make your favorite meal. Refreshing your email won’t summon your decisions. Once you get to law school, remember what brought you there. I hope you change this world.
