…and loved it. WL is fine. I WITHDREW IMMEDIATELY AFTER NEGOTIATING FULL TUITION AT WASHU Having gone to an Ivy, I incurred a lot of debt. I want my career to extend my expierence in PI. I really am over trying to go to the best school and I just want to go to a school I can see myself happy at and one that gave me a…
…narrative apply to a range of schools so you can negotiate shot your shoot!
…some wisdom to applying to T20s here too for scholarship negotiation purposes. I took a big risk and wrote about a very controversial topic in my PS, which I think led to a lot of the waitlists and the SLS admit. All in all, I wouldn’t change things, but in the middle of February I was definitely regretting it.
…Yale which opened later)- Didn’t do a whole lot of scholly negotiation because by March I was between UCLA & Penn (barring Stanny) Sent several LOCIs to Stanny, which was my top pick, but a WL is simply not worth turning down that Penn bag Also sent LOCIs to Chicago and Michigan
…It was always UT, everywhere I applied was for leverage to negotiate with UT. I have a lot of personal ties to the university and Austin that were hard to give up. Can’t wait to be a Lawhorn!
…earlier meant As earlier –> earlier finaid –> more time to negotiate! It feels like crunch time right now (late March) and I can only imagine how stressed later applicants feel. Things I would have improved: Could have written/finalized personal statement, diversity statement, supps over the summer. Not sure why I…
…LOCIs right at 12 weeks regardless of holiday breaks. Negotiate as many scholarships as you can. Thank your recommenders!
I applied knowing that I wanted to go to school in the triangle (Duke or UNC) and the rest of my applications were kind of just for negotiation purposes if I could use them. When I got the WL at Duke, it really stung, but when I got accepted off hold at UNC I was so excited & I can’t wait to be a Tar Heel in the fall.
…Sent LOCI in early February. **- Villanova, I successfully negotiated up $4k/year and they were quick to respond. Iowa scholly interview notes: interviewed by a 3L (super chill). Asked why law, why Iowa, describe your communication style, describe your leadership style, give three words that your friends/family say…
…and I am so excited to attend in the fall! Scholarship negotiation was a total bust. I didn’t have much leverage with such gaps in either cost or ranking. Still, if you told me at the beginning of the cycle that I would pay less than half tuition at UVA, I would have been over the moon. It’s easy to feel a little…
…w/r/t a particular school’s interview and/or scholarship negotiation process. Once you apply, try to put everything out of sight and out of mind for a while. …than I needed even if you account for wanting to negotiate. Most importantly, because you won’t listen, do not check your status checkers neurotically. Seriously be good to yourself.
Apply early, apply widely, craft a coherent narrative, and negotiate your scholarships aggressively. Numbers get your foot in the door, the rest of your application gets you the acceptance. I think that is really shown in my results – my numbers were not competive at the very top, but I did well at schools where I…
…ffs. They really mean it when they say you have no room to negotiate. Don’t be surprised Pikachu by $0. 7Sage’s regression modeling “chance me” thing-a-doo is shit for outliers such as URMs and splitters, let alone URM splitters. Be careful on the internet. It isn’t just adcomms that are watching, but also your…

…through my 171, so they were not entirely helpful, lol. I negotiated with BU from $45k to $120k with new LSAT, but they wouldn’t budge for a full ride when I asked. My two biggest disadvantages: Applying in February with a 171 in an extremely competitive cycle. Along with this was that I was too busy to write 8+…
