I think I underestimated how much scores really matter. But if you’re waitlisted, I would just continue following up with the school, go visit, and attend as many admission zooms as possible to show interest. That’s what worked for me. Good luck! This process is a doozie.
Applicant wisdom
Advice applicants left on their LSD.Law profiles, searchable by topic, school, and stats.
Cycle is brutal. Don’t be afraid of taking a safety (with money ONLY). If you only get into your safety, use your stats for leverage with scholarships
LSAT 174 GPA 2.41 2022–23 cycle
Admitted to University of California—Los Angeles
Take the LSAT seriously. Started with 152 diagnostic. 169 on the first official. 174 on the second official. Wrote a PS about my work in the aerospace industry and how it connects back to law school. Hired one of the law school admissions consulting services.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
This whole system is a scam designed for the 1% to win every time (and get richer in the process), but here we all are buying into it; spending ≥1 year of our lives, our energy, and stressing out so that we can play the game too.
Double check your essays! Don’t waste application fees on schools you can’t realistically afford. Resist the golden handcuffs of elite/pricey schools. Consider your regional market pipeline. Always take the optional interview.
Had a law school epiphany in November 2020, took the January LSAT, submitted the bulk of my applications in Feb/early March (haha kill me right?), and now I’m here praying for death with all the rest of you psychos.
LSAT 157 GPA 3.80 2020–21 cycle
Admitted to Illinois Institute of Technology (Kent)
Was going into Patent Law since I had a degree in CS. Ultimately this is likely what lead to me getting into any school at all. So maybe try a higher LSAT. It all worked out really well for me in the end. Good luck.
Don’t worry about the prestige and the rankings. It matters so much less than you think. Go to the school that fits you.
live, laugh, love (as an act of defiance)
Keep taking the LSAT. And take it in-person. I went 162 -> 168 -> 167 -> 168 -> 175. The last one was the only one I didn’t take at home or in a stupid hotel. Remote test-taking sucks. Go to the testing place.
apply early!! wish i would’ve applied earlier. also don’t hold out hope for waitlists. i held out hope for 2 weeks until classes started and was sad and stressed because of it lol (i would’ve loved u @wayne)
1.)Grad GPA was 3.72. 2.) 8 years WE (non-traditional) in education 3.) C and F issue. someone called campus police for noise issue freshmen year of college. Social probation for 1 academic year.
Waitlisted at these schools last cycle with the same stats: BC WashU Emory I withdrew from all three in May 2021 and decided to re-apply the next cycle since I committed to my job for another year
I have a low GPA but I have a clear upward trajectory and large gap between the bad semesters and the good ones for anyone wondering. I only took the LSAT one time, probably not a big factor.
Had awful GPA in teens/20s. Took a decade off from school. Came back with a bunch of work experience and ran off a 4.0 to end my college career despite maintaining a full time job with kids.
June 2022 - 151 Applied to Northern Illinois University and University of Toledo with my 151 November 2022 - 158 I tried to be as detailed as possible for my fellow neurotic folks.
APPLY! Stop listening to people who say you have no chance at certain schools because of your stats. There’s more to an application than just your gpa and lsat. Shoot your shot!
