KJD but graduated from undergrad with BA & MA in 4 years. Withdrew from Stanford, Columbia, Penn, and Duke before receiving official scholarship offers. Did not negotiate for more aid from schools.
Renegotiated with Texas Law using all of my other scholarship offers, except NYU (hadn’t received my scholly info yet) – offer went from 54k total to 60k total (off of in-state tuition). Headed to Texas Law to stay close to my fam and significant other! :)
Please see the table below for scholarship negotiations that took place.
…one in January, one in February. First LOCI early March. Scholarship stuff Sent GW UVA ($45k), WashU ($150k) and BU ($120k) on 03.04 via form on admitted students website. …DC or NYC. I applied to so many schools hoping to leverage scholarships from wherever possible. Ultimately, I chose Columbia over slightly more money at NYU based on my preference for a quieter neighborhood (Morningside Heights vs. Greenwich Village) and honestly the lay-prestige. My goal is elite biglaw. I think I…
…table. It can amount to tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship money or admission to a dream school. Use the free advice from professionals in the admissions game. Military people should use Service To School, however, be mindful of who is helping you and the limits of their knowledge. Use websites like Law…
Negotiate your scholarships!!!! The worst they can say is no. With the exception of Northwestern (because they said they weren’t going to negotiate with anyone this year), I got more money everywhere I asked.
…they won’t, but they totally did. Also apply to outside scholarships! Another benefit to applying to early is I was just twiddling my thumbs from Nov-April, nothing to do but wait. Some hobbies I suggest: pick a random NFL team to follow, kiss some strangers, learn Spanish, make ravioli, write shitty poetry, etc.…
Brutal cycle. Did not perform even close to how I expected based off of previous years’ data (admissions & scholarship offers). LSAT medians are certainly rising. Oh, well; hopefully you all have better luck.
Northwestern 210 vs Berk 150? Northwestern 210 vs Berk 135? SCHOLARSHIP RECONSIDERATION -WashU initial 234k 1/30 -Gtown initial 150k 3/11 -Submitted recon 3/13 with WashU full+ -Gtown recon DENIED???? 3/25 I see now that they had already deduced that I likely had WashU. You need to use an offer that they are not…
…reliably and afford you the option of squeezing a decent scholarship out of Cornell & Georgetown. There isn’t much love for internationals outside of those four schools (and maybe NYU) in the T-14. I say this recognizing that I certainly outperformed my stats in a ridiculous cycle. For reference, I had a 3.97 US…
…vary by month submitted. With that being said, merit scholarship availability seems to be much more limited across all schools the later you apply. On LSAT prep: something that helped me improve when approaching questions was shifting my mindset when reviewing answer choices from “what are reasons why this AC could…
TOUGH cycle but grateful to land my dream school with generous scholarship. After two months of drafting and then hating what I drafted, I came up with a very incompetent PS on a extremely difficult topic, which was why I didn’t receive more offers. But fortunately, someone understood what I wrote and believed in my…
…it was a better fit for me, I enjoyed their ASW and the scholarship made it enough for me to attend 😇
…CAS fee gets you an extra acceptance or even $50 extra in scholarship money it’s worth it. All fee waivers unsolicited except Berkeley and UW. Wrote all optional essays.
