Wrote why x for a few schools but mostly added it to my personal statement. Not a URM, but my parents are immigrants from the Middle East.
Just want to leave a word of encouragement for my fellow serious C&F applicants, you can overcome your past. Don’t let it hold you back!

Successfully requested deferral offer from waitlist at Michigan after receiving 40 hr/wk work opportunity for the coming year.
Wrote Why X’s for UChicago and Duke, and Core Strengths for Penn. Didn’t do any other essays. Got an HTE from NYU on 1/28.
Make sure you put the effort into the LSAT as best you can, it really is worth it and the extra attempt I did saved me 100k+
Use 7sage, don’t do more than 1-2 tests a week, take a 4-5 day break every couple practice tests (so you actually learn).
An explanation of cause is not a justification by reason. Take the LSAT earlier in the cycle than you think you need to.

It’s not how you start it’s how you finish. Finish well and the beginning will be forgotten.
I regret not doing “Why X” essays and other supplementals. Highly recommend doing so, at least for your top picks.
My GPA sucks because I didn’t care in undergrad (never knew I wanted to go to law school until after I graduated)

Choose your school based on financial aid, not rank. I’d rather be at a T20 instead of a T14 but debt-free!
