Admitted to Columbia University…a friend. **Personal statement ** Do not use AI at all! **Interviews ** I thought most of my interviews went poorly, but I was admitted to 4/5 of schools I interviewed at. I still cringe thinking about some of my interview answers, so know that there is hope if you feel like an interview didn’t go well. Although I…
…Scholarship the following week. Michigan Invited to interview for the Darrow- 12/16. Interviewed on 1/16 and got the award one week later on 1/23. NYU Invited to interview for RTK- on 2/7. Withdrew from RTK before the interview because I knew I would take the Darrow/Mordecai/AnBryce over the RTK with its five-year…
…at Michigan on 11/11/2020 and got the invite for a Darrow interview in early December (interview date and date awarded the Darrow are listed in scholarship details). There aren’t a ton of details about the Darrow interview, so I’ll say it was a very standard interview by law school admissions standards—the person I…
…throughout to understand how and why your hook fits in. Interview Lesson - be risk averse and avoid politics at all costs Yale rejected me after a bizarre interview where Dean Ingber explicitly strayed from the purported interview script and inquired expressly into religion/politics (I was polite and was trying to…
Notes and dates for future applicants to promote transparency in this painstaking process :) Harvard 3/18 - Waitlisted 5/1 - Sent LOCI 5/3 - Interview invite 5/8 - Interviewed 5/14 - Feeler call (5:30pm ET) 5/15 - Acceptance call (11:31am ET) UChicago 3/14 - Received initial scholarship award ($30,000). 3/22 -…
…and the to-do list will get shorter. Be authentic in interviews. I was kind of weird in all of my interviews, but being yourself is always better than trying to be “more impressive” or “smarter.” Prepare a little bit ahead of each interview and then just go do your best. They are interviewing you because they like…
…beg Dean Andy to let me in. - I got invited to do a Group Interview around 2 days after I submitted my app and interviewed on Nov 6. I got the “exceptional group” speech during the group interview and in the email after. WL email was the “special group within our priority waitlist”. Idk what that means because they…
…(figured they wouldn’t want 20 more pages of me). Chicago interview was not great (did not perform interest in school very well, I think); GULC group interview was fine; NYU IILJ interview went really, really well. Agonized over slow decisions and uncertain results, to the detriment of my own sanity. Realized that…
…(how you felt, thought, deliberated, spoke up, etc). Interviews: Kept it personable, friendly, and tried to really connect with the interviewer. I tried to have fun! Applying earlier meant As earlier –> earlier finaid –> more time to negotiate! It feels like crunch time right now (late March) and I can only imagine…
Initial reflections: I think that HYS outcomes are very difficult to predict. Others felt a bit more straightforward. For me, Harvard interview was more direct, more formal, and less friendly than the Chicago interview. For HLS, I would prepare thoroughly and be prepared to give a strong “why law school?” answer…
…arrived 12/16 Northwestern–WL last year. Michigan–Darrow interview invite arrived 12/17. Received full Darrow $$$$+ on 2/24. Berkeley–reapplicant, WL last year. **NYU– **Accepted last year, no $. Reapplied with a few sentences in my Furman scholars application about being a reapplicant (and being a Furman finalist…
…Wrote a good handful of Why Xs for lower T14 schools. Interviewed at Chicago, Kira for Northwestern, group interview at Georgetown. No interview at Columbia or Harvard. Georegetown WL was “special group within the preferred waitlist” Sent LOCI to UVA in March (I heard we were supposed to do this very late. It…
…writing but realized I messed up when my Columbia interviewer noted the “mix” of experiences and asked what I wanted to do after law school… whoops… NU Interview: 12/10; Cornell: 1/16; GULC: 1/19; UC: 1/23; CLS: 1/30 Took the LSAT three times (Nov: Cancel [168], Feb: 172, June: 177) thanks to my LSAT-induced…
…this to help much, but it kept getting referenced in my interviews and was always a good response for the “leadership” question Wrote all the optionals/supplementals Framed “Why” essays by doing one paragraph about why the school is a good personal fit, another about why academically. Also helped me figure out why I…
…list, 1 page resume Stanford: 2 optional essays (books and interview with historical figure), PS, DS, 1 page resume Harvard: just PS and DS, 1 page resume Chicago: PS, DS, Doctoroff essay (admitted to Doctoroff as well), 2 page resume Columbia: PS (with a specific “Why Columbia” paragraph at the end in response to…
Interviewed with UChicago, Northwestern, and group interview for GULC
Wrote every optional essay possible and a Why X to avoid YP outside the T6. Did not write any DS. If you get an HLS interview, make sure you’re really jazzed and emphasize that it’s your first choice. That’s what I think got me WL’ed, since my interview otherwise went really well.
