JournoLaw's wisdom for future generations

I began studying for the LSAT in April 2021. I took it three times, and I improved my score by 10 pts in August 2022. Immediately after seeing my best score, I applied as soon as the cycle started to my top schools. I am looking to study part-time in the NYC area for as little money as possible. I threw in a few reach schools that would require full-time study just to see if I could even get in to consider them as options.

I own a home in the NYC area, and I am not looking to move. I only applied to schools about an hour radius from our house. I worked as a journalist all four years of undergrad and for three years post-grad. I decided in April 2021 that I wanted to go to law school, so I left my job as a local news reporter to work as a paralegal for a little under a year, and then as a legal assistant for almost a year. I have worked at three different firms, starting at a small boutique firm where I did everything for everyone, to a mid-size firm, to where I am now at a big law firm in NYC. My varying experience has helped me understand what I do and don’t want out of law school, and what I do and do not want for my career as an attorney.

I am hoping to focus my studies on media law and constitutional law when in school. After that, I hope to have a career that aligns with my passion for journalism, media and the law.
