I got this advice from every 1L I spoke with, yet I really let time slip from my hands - sigh. What took me so long was in part because I kept revising my essays - wasn’t totally in love with them. Should’ve had them polished and ready to go in the summer, but was exhausted from working at a FT internship role. In hindsight, I think I should’ve taken that summer off to a) study the LSAT seriously and b) write all my essays. :((

Wish I scored higher on the LSAT (studied lightly over 5 months and seriously over 3-4 months and was PT’ing in the 16high to 17low range)… because that would’ve been the real difference-maker for my competitiveness as a Canadian applicant at US schools. Sat for LSAT 3 total times - 165 (Oct 2023), 168 (Nov 2023), 168 (Jan 2024 - was confident this would be at least a 170 but no :/ )

In short - I really shot myself in the foot this cycle.

Realistically - would be happy with any of HYSCCN, especially HYS or Columbia. Hoping to grind out big law litigation right out of law school in the realm of ESG/corporate governance. Not re-applying - so if I must, will attend UToronto and pray for NYC biglaw recruitment.
