Wrote Why X for every school I applied to. Wrote all optional essays. Also included a LSAT addendum with my SAT scores to show a history of outperforming standardized test scores.

NYU - got HTE, sent in a LOCI, was waitlisted. I submitted a LOCI each month and completed the interview. I received a feeler email on 7/28, I responded to it and then received a feeler call that same day. Received offer of admission on 7/29.
UVA - I went UR2 end of Sept, read that you could send in a LOCI if you hadn’t heard back from them in months so I sent in a LOCI and got an interview invite a week later
Berkeley - never went UR2
Michigan - got hand written note with fee waiver in the summer, note congratulated me on my high grades from my uni, my acceptance note talked about how Dean Z found my resume to be very impressive
Georgetown - Special Preferred Wait List after group interview
I signed up and did informal talks with admissions officers at all schools that had that option the summer before I applied to ask them questions. Not sure if this helped me, but I did this at: Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Michigan, Duke, UT, USC, BU and GW
