Take your time with your personal statement and diversity statements. After reading both adcomms should be able to have a good idea of who you are as an individual in addition to why you want to be a lawyer. “Optional” essays arent optional if you aren’t above both medians, and even then you should still write them to avoid yield protection. If you don’t care enough about the school to write an extra essay you probably shouldn’t be applying there. I applied to way too many schools reach schools, but I did have the fee waiver so I said why not. Knowing what schools median chase and avoiding them is what I recommend to low-number folks like me.
