I never thought I’d get off a single waitlist, let alone two — I don’t think I did anything in particular that stood out, just responded to each feeler enthusiastically while praying at least one school would find themselves needing high GPA candidates. Also, UVA kept my application under review for nearly 6 months before finally putting me out of my misery and waitlisting me, so maybe there is some truth in the myth that the longer a school keeps your app active before you get waitlisted, the better your chances are of getting off? 

I was struggling to decide between Minnesota and Georgetown until I got the interview invite from UVA, and had such a lovely conversation with my interviewer that I was in the midst of typing out a “I will drop everything and commit to UVA” email when I got the call the next day. All my other schools offered me much more money, but my head and heart both say UVA. Honestly it still doesn’t feel real but this is the easiest decision I’ve had to make this entire cycle. WAHOOWA! 🧡💙
