gabrielmeir53's wisdom
Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Here are my tidbits of advice as I’ve discovered them throughout this process (bold is the main point, and everything beneath is an explanation of my logic):
Don’t procrastinate.-
Even at my big brother from my fraternity’s (now at W&L Law) behest, I still waited until January to apply. APPLY EARLIER - DO IT DURING A BREAK.**Be honest with yourself - can you actually handle studying for the LSAT while managing school, on top of whatever else you’ve got going on (a job, RSOs, etc.)?**- Saying this because I studied during the Fall of 2023 while I had my job with FSU’s undergrad admissions, a 15-hour class load, and was involved with Dance Marathon at FSU and my fraternity. It was way too much for me, at least.
-
for context, I did 7Sage and took a 4-hour Princeton Review course Monday through Thursday. I did way too fucking much at once.
That being said… don’t beat yourself up mentally.- We all have our moments, but if you’re getting really worn out, take a day off. At one point, I nearly decided I didn’t want to be a lawyer because of how much I wore myself out.
Don’t compare yourself to others.- You are not perfect. You do not compare yourself to XYZ, who got into [insert T15 law school]. It doesn’t matter what your mom, dad, grandparents, or your third cousin removed once says. Getting into a law school is an arduous task as it is, and people who think that you haven’t worked your ass off to get here are living in la la land.
