🥰 hi all! My biggest recommendation for everyone is to try to drown out the noise regarding personal statements, supplemental essays, etc. My personal statement did not speak to any schools in particular or even answer the “Why Law?” question, and I think that while that was potentially a risky choice it also resulted in a personal statement that felt thoroughly like me. I also only wrote supplemental essays that I felt drawn to - for instance, I did not write the longer Stanford optional essay because I truly didn’t think I had any particularly interesting opinions on the tolerance of different ideas. I also wrote about some weird topics, spanning from condoms to evolution, without worrying about how admissions committees would view it. My mindset throughout the entire process was to be as whole-heartedly myself as possible and allow schools that wouldn’t have been a natural fit to self-select out.
