make your own school list/ranking early, so you can do your time/money budget accordingly.
also, 1 helps a lot with expectations management and thus is good for your mental health.
pay attention to schools’ different requirements/optional essays.
start your essay writing based on a school’s specific prompt instead of generally thinking about a “personal statement or diversity statement”.
polish your materials as much as you can.
apply early if possible.
but if you can’t do 5 and 6 perfectly for some reason (just like me), I want to let you know you will be fine :)
