My biggest piece of advice is to know yourself and know your story. I entered undergrad blind and thinking I wanted to pursue another career path entirely, but as I grew and prioritized knowing myself more, the path I wanted to take became clearer. How pillars of my personhood and aspects of my lived experiences combined to create my personal story fell into place organically when I took that step back and reflected. That being said, I don’t mind if I dox myself by making my story available because I want someone else who stumbles upon my data point to have a human to reference behind the numbers.

As you can see from the brief work experience section in my profile, I appear to be all over the place in terms of experience and interests. I majored in Anthropology, specialized in Sociocultural Anthropology, and minored in Italian and Autism Spectrum Disorders. These were just areas I was genuinely interested in and at no point did I ever try to cater my academic path or involvement outside of the classroom to a law school—I did what I wanted because I wanted to, not because I thought it was what someone else expected of me.

Do things because they’re what you love to do! It’ll make talking about yourself in interviews that much more natural. Adcoms can tell when you’re being contrived, so making sure you know who you are and what you stand for is so important.
