swagadocious's wisdom
Do note that I have estimated certain scholarship figures when not awarded as a numerical sum. In cases of a “full tuition” or proportional scholarship, I assumed a 5% increase in all costs per year.
You may have noticed that I received a particularly high number of CAS report fee waivers. This was in part due to my own meager financial background, as I received a total of twelve when my second LSAC fee waiver was approved. Apparently, any free CAS reports you receive from an LSAC waiver will be rolled over into the next round, if unused. One could theoretically continue stacking them for years at a time, but the LSAC may well end this at some point. I requested CAS report fee waivers directly from approximately 60 schools, and I received five. Of the other 55 or so, many are known to give out these waivers; you will probably have to visit the campus or be recruited through the CRS in order to get them. My CRS profile matriculation date was incorrect, which prevented me from receiving much correspondence from schools.
I did not have the opportunity to study for the LSAT, as I have been in and out of homelessness since beginning this process in 2022. I could have done better, and probably should have tried; but, by the time I realized what a difference it would make, this was no longer an option. It would have meant waiting two more years to get another fee waiver, and that was not going to be possible.
Learn from my successes and my failures—now, go forth and apply broadly.
