ART

Read a random definition: the three estates

A quick definition of ART:

ART: ART stands for Alternative Reproductive Technology. It is a way for people who cannot have babies naturally to have a baby. ART includes things like in vitro fertilization, sperm donation, egg donation, and using a surrogate. The government made a law in 1992 that says ART is any treatment that involves handling human eggs or embryos.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: ART stands for Alternative Reproductive Technology, which is a way for people who are unable to have children naturally to have a baby. It includes different methods such as in vitro fertilization, sperm donation, ovum donation, and using a surrogate carrier.

Examples:

  • In vitro fertilization (IVF): This is when an egg is fertilized by sperm outside of the body and then implanted into the uterus.
  • Sperm donation: This is when a man donates his sperm to be used by a woman to become pregnant.
  • Ovum donation: This is when a woman donates her eggs to be used by another woman to become pregnant.
  • Surrogate carrier: This is when a woman carries a baby for another person or couple who cannot carry a pregnancy themselves.

These examples illustrate how ART can help people who are infertile to have a child. It allows them to use different methods to conceive a baby and start a family.
