Simple English definitions for legal terms

ecclesiastical authorities

Read a random definition: board of pardons

A quick definition of ecclesiastical authorities:

Ecclesiastical authorities are people who are in charge of the church. They are responsible for making sure that religious ceremonies and worship are done properly. They also give advice and teach people about religion. In England, there are different levels of ecclesiastical authorities, including archbishops, bishops, deans, archdeacons, parish priests, and curates. Other people who work in the church, like church-wardens and parish clerks, are also considered ecclesiastical authorities because they help with church duties.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Ecclesiastical authorities are the leaders of the church who are responsible for overseeing religious ceremonies, providing spiritual guidance, and administering religious instruction. They are answerable to the Crown but are set apart from the rest of the citizens.

In England, there are several levels of the clergy who are considered ecclesiastical authorities:

  • Archbishops and Bishops
  • Deans and Chapters
  • Archdeacons
  • Rural Deans
  • Parsons and Vicars
  • Curates

Other individuals who are considered ecclesiastical authorities include church-wardens, sidesmen, parish clerks, and sextons. These individuals have duties that are connected with the church.

Example: An example of an ecclesiastical authority is a bishop who oversees a diocese and is responsible for the spiritual well-being of the people in that area. Another example is a parish priest who provides religious instruction and guidance to the members of their congregation.

These examples illustrate how ecclesiastical authorities are responsible for providing spiritual guidance and administering religious instruction to their communities.

I mean, idk how it's possible to end birth right citizenship without amending the constitution because to me the 14th amendment is pretty clear about it.
ross ulbricht tried to hire a hitman to kill 5 people
i am not that sympathetic to him

@KnowledgeableRitzyWasp: That might have been an FBI agent. It was most likely him and he was most likely doing it to retrieve stolen funds that corrupt FBI agents stole, but yeah moral gray area but me personally, cool with hitmen. It's not like it is uncommon to hire hitmen. I don't think the action itself is necessarily wrong but the intent behind it can be.

Like, Boeing whistblowers being killed by hitmen = wrong but a guy hiring hitmen to retrieve stolen funds = good to me.

@Dkk: Yeah, for sure. My guess is it'll go to SCOTUS and it'll be 8-1 or 7-2, saying that EO was unconstitutional.

Indeed. I need a count for how many exectuive orders he has signed and how many already have pending lawsuits.
